With fixed orthodontic appliances the most efficient way of correction of malocclusionis only possible. Fixed appliance consists of wires and brackets that are bonded to the teeth. Brackets can be metal or white or transparent, depending on the preference of the patient. Length of therapy is highly individual, depending on the anomaly and is determined by the orthodontist. Also after removing the appliance is recommended to wear retention for a certain time, in order for treatment not to be futile because teeth tend to return to the original position.
